The Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer–2x Thermistor/PRT & 2x Thermocouple Inputs can be used to measure up to four sensors simultaneously.
This instrument is able to accommodate PRTs, thermistor and thermocouple sensor types as it includes inputs for all these probes. The Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer has two sister products with different probe inputs:
This model is able to accommodate 100Ω, 25Ω and 10Ω PRTs and RTDs as well as thermocouple types B, E, J, K, N, R, S, T and Au-Pt.
When measuring PRTs and RTDs, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer uses ITS-90, IEC-751 (DIN) or Callender-Van Dunsen conversion methods, giving it typical accuracies of ±0.004°C at -100°C and ±0.009°C at 100°C. The Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer has an accuracy of ±0.0025°C and a resolution of 0.0001° when measuring thermistors and utilises Steinhart-Hart polynomial or a standard YSI-400 curve in order to perform these measurements.
When taking readings of thermocouples the user is able to select between internal and external reference junction compensation.
Measurements can be taken via all four channels simultaneously or sequentially. The Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer has a standard sample rate for each channel of one reading per second. However, the user is able to set the thermometer to one of fourteen logging intervals ranging from one reading per 0.1 seconds to one per hour. This instrument also includes a high-speed mode which facilitates the thermometer’s ability to conduct ten readings per second (one channel ONLY).
The user is able to view measurements in °C, °F, K, Ω or mV. He/she may also select a temperature resolution between 0.01 and 0.001. In addition to this, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer includes a number of measurement functions, allowing the user to tailor the instrument to the application.
It includes the following statistical function:
In addition to this, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer features the following probe options:
It also features the following utility functions:
The user is able to view up to eight data fields from any channel. He/she can select the desired option/s using the simple menu system which is accessible via a single button on the front panel. This simple-to-navigate menu will guide the user through the internal setup and memory options, allowing him/her to access and alter probe coefficients, sample intervals, communication settings and password settings.
In addition to this, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer includes an extensive memory capable of storing up to 10 screen configurations and up to 8000 readings (at user selectable intervals) with date and time stamps. Alternatively, the user can store up to 100 individual measurements with identifying session labels.
Information recorded by the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer can be uploaded to a computer using the supplied RS-232 port (OPTIONAL IEEE-488 ports are available).
Once the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer has been connected to a computer it can be used with Fluke’s Calibration 9935 LogWare II Software (NOT included) to conduct graphical and statistical data analysis. This software also facilitates the user’s ability to organise files based on session labels, as well as conduct real-time data logging.
Alternatively, this instrument can be used with Fluke’s MET / TEMP II Software (NOT included) in order to conduct automated calibrations, using one probe input as a reference whilst using the others to accommodate the thermometers-under-investigation.
In terms of its physical design, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer includes patented mini DWF connectors ensuring that it is easy to connect thermistors and PRTs with a range of terminations, including bare wire, spade lug and mini banana plug. Thermocouples with standard or miniature terminations are also easy to connect.
This instrument includes a nickel-metal-hydride battery which is able to supply the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer with up to eight hours of power between charging. This battery can be charged in three hours and has been optimised for longevity, it is able to last through 500 charge/recharge cycles.
Alternatively, the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer can be powered using an AC power supply of 100 to 240V or a DC power supply of 12 to 16V.
The extensive measurement capabilities of the Fluke 1529-256 Chub-E4 Standards Thermometer–2x Thermistor/PRT & 2x Thermocouple Inputs, as well as its practical design and compact size, makes it suitable for a variety of applications including benchtop thermometry, on-site measurements, lab calibration work and remote data logging.
