Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer Description
The Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer can be used to log temperature measurements, as well as measure, graph and record PRTs, thermistors and thermocouples.
It includes three sensors with the following ranges and accuracies:
- PRT sensor: -200°C to 1000°C (±0.011°C)
- Thermocouple sensor: -200°C to 2315°C (±0.24°C for J, K, L and M)
- Thermistor sensor: -50°C to 150°C (±0.002°C)
The Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer is able to conduct measurements simultaneously via its two channels. These measurements may be viewed simultaneously via the 128 x 64-pixel, backlit, LCD display. On the display, the user can also view trend graphs which are plotted and scaled in real-time. A dedicated function button allows the user to alter the resolution to the suit the application facilitating his/her ability to monitor processes over time and/or determine temperature stability quickly and without the use of statistics.
As standard, this instrument has a sample rate of one reading per second. However, it may be set to record temperatures at intervals as sporadic as one per hour or as frequently as one per 0.3 seconds (Fast Mode), as well as at intervals anywhere between these two limits. In order to accommodate these data logging capabilities, as well as the additional measurements that are taken using the second channel, the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer includes an extensive memory capable of saving up to 15 000 readings with date and time stamps. This thermometer includes a real-time clock in order to generate accurate date and time stamps.
Data can be uploaded to a PC using the included RS-232 interface and the supplied Fluke 9940 Toolkit Software. These accessories can be used to log and organise data collected by the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer. These components can also be used to create and upload probe configurations to the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer as well as send commands directly to the instrument.
In addition to this, the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer can be used with Fluke’s LogWare II Software for applications involving greater volumes of data-logging and –monitoring.
Information regarding probe configurations is saved to the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s INFO-CON memory chip. Once a probe is connected, the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer will recall the relevant calibration information from the INFO-CON memory chip, thereby ensuring that the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer is correctly adjusted to perform correct temperature conversions for accurate measurements.
This instrument is able to accommodate PRTs/RTDs, thermistors and thermocouples and particular probes may be locked to certain channels using a password, allowing the user to maintain system calibration traceability.
Also adding to the accuracy and reliability of this instrument is its utilisation of a current reversal technique which eliminates thermal EMFs. Further to this, it includes precision resistors and a highly stable reference voltage source which work to maintain the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s accuracy in spite of external temperatures. Indeed this instrument has been tested in extreme temperatures and harsh vibration conditions in order to ensure its accuracy and functionality are maintained in challenging environments.
This instrument is powered using three AA batteries and is able to remain operational for up to twenty hours using this power source. This period of functionality can be extended using the supplied DC adapter and the Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s integrated power-saving settings.
The Fluke 1524-256 2-Channel Handheld Thermometer is an ergonomically designed, practical, versatile and reliable temperature logger and measurement instrument. It can be used as a reference temperature and logger in calibration baths, dry-block calibrators, thermowells, clean rooms, engines, heat exchangers, furnaces and freezers. It is particularly well suited to calibration, loop-checking, plant start-up, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair applications.
