Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer Description
The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer includes three sensors which allow the user to measure, graph and record PRTs, thermistors and thermocouples. These sensors have the following measurement ranges and accuracies:
- PRT sensor: -200°C to 1000°C (±0.011°C)
- Thermocouple sensor: -200°C to 2315°C (±0.24°C for J, K, L and M)
- Thermistor sensor: -50°C to 150°C (±0.002°C)
This instrument is able to accommodate PRTs/RTDs, thermocouples and thermistors, allowing the user to adapt the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer to the application. It is possible to lock probes to particular channels in order to maintain system calibration traceability. The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer is able to identify the probe that has been connected and will recall any calibration information applicable to the connected probe from the internal INFO-CON memory chip.
Probe configurations can be created and uploaded to the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer using the RS-232 interface and supplied Fluke 9940 Toolkit Software. The user is also able to send commands directly to the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer using the RS-232 interface and Toolkit software; additionally, he/she may log and organise data recorded by the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer using these accessories.
Alternatively, up to twenty-five measurements with statistics can be saved directly to the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer. As standard the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer has a sample rate of one reading per second, however, when used in Fast Mode this is increased to one reading per 0.3 seconds.
Measurements are viewable via the 128 x 64-pixel, backlit, LCD display. Graphs are plotted and scaled in real-time and are also viewable via this display. Using the dedicated function button, the user can adjust the resolution of the graph to monitor processes over time and/or determine the stability of temperatures quickly and without the use of statistics.
In order to ensure the accuracy of measurements, the Fluke 1523-256 utilises a current reversal technique in order to eliminate thermal EMFs. In addition to this, the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer includes precision resistors and a highly stable reference voltage source which work to maintain the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s accuracy in all external temperatures. Indeed the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer has been thoroughly tested in extreme temperatures and harsh vibrations in order to ensure that it remains both functional and accurate in challenging environments.
Adding to this instrument’s practicality is the inclusion of power-saving settings which may be engaged in order to extend the thermometer’s operating time. Alternatively, the operator can use the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer with the included DC adapter in order to extend this period of functionality. This tester requires three AA batteries to operate and is able to remain functional for up to 20 hours using this power source.
The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer is a practical, adaptable, versatile instrument capable of taking accurate temperature measurements of PRTs, thermistors and thermocouples. It is ideal for serving as a temperature reference in bath calibrators, dry-block calibrators, thermowells, clean rooms, engines, heat exchangers, furnaces and freezers. It is particularly well suited to calibration, loop checking, plant start-up, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair applications.

Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe Description
The Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe has a temperature range of -200°C to 420°C. It has an accuracy of ±0.012°C (at 0°C) and is supplied with an NVLAP accredited calibration (lab code 200706-0).
It has been calibrated from -196°C to 420°C and using ITS-90 coefficients, ensuring that it is accurate enough for use with Fluke’s more sophisticated temperature calibrators.
Further to this, the Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe is supplied with information regarding sensor resistance; this data is specified in 1°C increments.
In terms of its physical design, the Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe includes an element made of a reference-grade platinum wire (99.999% purity), ensuring that the probe remains stable. Hysteresis is all but eliminated due to the platinum wire, wound in a coil, having been placed in a mandrel, ensuring that it is uniformly supported. Furthermore, the Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe’s electrical configuration eradicates the effects of lead-wire resistance as it is a four-wire current-potential hookup.
This platinum resistance thermometer features an Inconel™ 600 sheath which is 305mm (12-inches) in length and 6.35mm (0.25-inches) in diameter. It is also protected by a ceramic case with a hermetic glass seal. This protects it from moisture and contaminants which thereby improves both its longevity and outward stability.
The Fluke 5615-12-P Secondary Reference Temperature Probe is a cost-effective, accurate and reliable temperature probe. It has been optimised to bridge the gap between 100Ω industrial RTDs and SPRTs, making it ideal for extending the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s capabilities.
