The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer can be used to measure thermocouples, thermistors and PRTs (Platinum Reference Thermometers). It has a sample rate of one reading per second, which can be increased to one reading per 0.3 seconds when used in Fast Mode. To facilitate these measurement capabilities, this instrument includes three sensors with the following temperature ranges :
- PRT sensor: -200°C to 1000°C (±0.011°C)
- Thermocouple sensor: -200°C to 2315°C (±0.24°C for J, K, L and M)
- Thermistor sensor: -50°C to 150°C (±0.002°C)
In order to maintain the accuracy of temperature measurements, the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer utilises a current reversal technique which removes thermal EMFs. It also features precision resistors and a highly stable reference voltage source, which work to maintain the accuracy of the instrument in spite of the surrounding temperature.
Further to this, the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer has been subject to testing in extremes of temperature and significant vibration, ensuring that it will remain accurate and functional in challenging environments.
Also maintaining the accuracy of this instrument, whilst improving its functionality, is the INFO-CON memory chip which is able to record the calibration information for each probe attached to the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer. The Fluke 1523-256 will identify which probe has been connected automatically and will subsequently recall the relevant information, allowing for accurate measurements and/or temperature conversion.
It is possible to lock probes to specific channels using a password, allowing the user to maintain system calibration traceability. In addition to this, the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer can be used with Fluke’s Universal Thermocouple Adapter (NOT included), which includes a precision thermistor and supports reference junction compensation.
The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer is able to support PRTs/RTDs, thermocouples and thermistors allowing the user to tailor the instrument to the application. Measurements and trend graphs (which are plotted and scaled in real-time) are viewable via the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer’s 128 x 64-pixel, backlit, LCD display. This thermometer includes a function button allowing the user to change the resolution of the graph as necessary, allowing him/her to determine temperature stability quickly and without statistics, as well as monitor processes over time.
The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer is able to save up to 25 readings with statistics; this information is viewable via the display or may be uploaded to a PC using the RS-232 interface and the included Fluke 9940 Toolkit Software. This software can be used to log and organise data as well as alter and create probe configurations. The operator may also utilise this software to send commands directly to the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer.
As well as its extensive measurement capabilities, accuracy and adaptability, the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer has also been optimised for long periods of use. To this end, it includes power-saving settings and can be used with the included DC power adapter to extend periods of operation. When powered by three AA batteries, this instrument can offer the user up to 20 hours of functionality.
All these features make the Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer suitable for applications such as:
- Calibration
- Loop checking
- Plant start-up
- Troubleshooting
- Maintenance
- Repair
This instrument may also function as a temperature reference for use with bath calibrators, dry-block calibrators, thermowells, clean rooms, engines, heat exchangers, furnaces and freezers.
The Fluke 1523-256 1-Channel Handheld Thermometer is a versatile, adaptable, practical and precise temperature measurement tool.
