Extech WTH600-E-KIT Wireless Weather Station

The Extech WTH600-E-Kit Wireless Weather Station consists of an indoor wireless base station and an outdoor wireless transmitter. It can be used to monitor indoor temperatures, humidity and external weather conditions, making this kit particularly useful to businesses in sectors, such as construction, agriculture and recreation, which may be affected by changes in environmental conditions.

The Extech WTH600-E-Kit Wireless Weather Station’s outdoor wireless transmitter features five integrated sensors, including:

• Temperature
• Humidity
• A self-emptying rain collector for measuring rainfall
• Wind cups for measuring wind speed
• A wind vane for measuring wind direction

This instrument is capable of measuring gusts and average wind speed in mph, m/s, km/h or knots. Information acquired by the transmitter can be relayed back to the indoor wireless base station via a low power radio frequency. It has a transmission range of 150m.

The Extech WTH600-E-Kit Wireless Weather Station’s indoor wireless base station features a large LCD display with an amber backlight; it receives information from the outdoor transmitter and is able to display:

• The weather forecast: this instrument will indicate whether the weather is sunny, partially cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy or snowy. The base station also features an ice-alert.
• The rain rate: the user is able to view this reading in inches or millimetres and can view measurements for daily, weekly, monthly and total rainfall.
• Barometric pressure: can be displayed as a relative or absolute measurement.
• Indoor temperature and humidity: the user can also view the dew-point measurement and/or the comfort levels for these entities.

When viewing historical data for rainfall (over the preceding five days) or pressure changes (for the past 1, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours) the information can be displayed in a bar chart. In addition to viewing these measurements, the Extech WTH600-E-KIT’s indoor wireless base station will record data for each hour over twenty-four hours and will also store the maximum and minimum readings detected. Minimum and maximum readings are saved with time and date stamps.

Furthermore, the user is able to set high and low alarms for indoor and outdoor temperatures, wind speed and rainfall. In the event that any of these upper or lower limits are breached the Extech base station will issue a visual alert in the form of an amber, flashing, LED light.

The Extech WTH600-E-KIT’s indoor wireless base station is also able to display the date, time, and weekday (can be displayed in English, Danish, French, Italian or Spanish). It can also be configured to accommodate a clock alarm function. The clock mode available on this base station has an operational frequency of 868MHz for EU and UK regions; however, it can be manually adjusted for use in other countries.

Further to this, the Extech indoor wireless base station includes a signal strength indicator for the outdoor transmitter and a low battery indicator for the outdoor transmitter and the indoor base station.
