Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer

The Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer can be used to measure the level of dissolved sucrose in liquids. As such it has a Brix range of 0 to 53% with a resolution of 0.1%; a refractive index range of 1.3301 to 1.474RI with a 0.0001RI resolution; and a temperature range of 4 to 60°C with a 1°C resolution.

The Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer is able to display the %Brix or RI reading and temperature measurement simultaneously via its dual display. These measurement capabilities make it particularly well suited to the following applications:

• Measuring the dissolved sucrose levels in liquids used during food and beverage production
• Determining the ripeness of fruit and plants
• Controlling the concentration of cutting coolants, hydraulic fluids, antifreeze and other industrial fluids in order to maintain the longevity of equipment and prevent corrosion

Measurements can be frozen on the Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer’s dual LCD display using the Data Hold function. In addition to this, up to ten measurements can be stored in the refractometer’s onboard memory.

This instrument has a fast response time of three seconds and includes a number of functions designed to improve and maintain its accuracy. The Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer features an automatic temperature compensation (ATC) function and can be calibrated to zero using either distilled or tap water.   

In addition to this, the Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer has been designed with longevity and resilience in mind. It has an IP65-rated, water-resistant casing with side sprouts for drainage and features a sapphire prism with an abrasion and corrosion resistant coating. Further to this, it also features an integrated prism cover. These features add to the ruggedness of this instrument thereby reducing the level of maintenance required.

Moreover, the Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer’s compact size ensures that it is easy to handle, operate, and transport.

Finally, as well as physical longevity this instrument is designed to maintain operational longevity; to this end, it includes an Auto Power Off function which will switch off the refractometer after two minutes of inactivity. This feature works to preserve and extend the instrument’s battery power. The Extech RF153 Digital Brix Refractometer is powered using two AAA batteries and will alert the user as to when it becomes necessary to replace this power source via a low battery indicator.
