About RDL

RDL Electronic Dual Coin Meters and Timers

RDL was the first in the world to develop an electronic coin meter with a traceable serial number. This meter was updated to a dual coin in 2008 and further developed in 2009 to improve the unique coin action. This coin action can cope with different currencies and also RDL's token coins. The new 12-sided coin will operate on all RDL Meters that have £1 acceptance.

RDL Electronic Card Meters and Timers

1st July 2015 RDL launched its first new Magnetic Card Meter/Timer due to the high demand and low availability from other sources. This new meter has many fine features. The landlord can alter it to a timer from a meter and vice versa. It is designed to use disposable magnetic cards. The advantage is the landlord receives the money before any of his electricity has been used. It has a traceable serial number, no external cover seals and an extension terminal cover has been designed by RDL to cover the incoming supply cables.

Other RDL Products Available

RDL also has a very wide range of meter accessories and can offer systems for Energy Measurement, Prepayment of Electricity, Smart Metering, Solar PV Generation, Multi-Function Metering, and Timers.

FAQs

  • What is a metering system?
A metering system is a setup designed to measure, record, and manage the consumption of resources like electricity, water, or gas. It typically includes meters to gauge usage, data collectors to gather information, communication infrastructure to transmit data, and management software to analyze and report on usage. This system ensures accurate billing, efficient resource management, and effective monitoring of consumption.

  • How does an Electronic Dual Coin Meter work?
An Electronic Dual Coin Meter works by accepting and validating two different coin denominations. Users insert coins into the meter, which uses electronic sensors to detect and verify each coin’s value. The meter then counts the accepted coins and accumulates the total credit. This credit is used to control the operation of a machine, such as a vending machine or arcade game, based on the amount inserted. The system provides accurate transaction tracking and reduces errors compared to mechanical coin meters.

  • What are the benefits of using an Electronic Dual Coin Meter?
Using an Electronic Dual Coin Meter offers several benefits: it provides precise coin validation and counting, accepts two different coin denominations for flexible payment options and enhances security by reducing cash handling and preventing fraud. Additionally, it simplifies user transactions, reduces maintenance needs due to fewer mechanical parts, and offers accurate tracking and reporting of transactions for better management and efficiency.

  • What is an electronic card meter?
An electronic card meter is a device that uses electronic technology to manage and measure usage based on card payments. Users insert a card, which is validated for credit or payment, and the meter tracks the resource consumed or service provided. It provides precise data, reduces cash handling, and offers a user-friendly experience for various applications like vending machines and public services.

  • What are the benefits of using an electronic card meter?
Benefits of using an electronic card meter include increased convenience for users with quick and easy card payments, enhanced accuracy in tracking and managing usage, and improved security by reducing cash handling and fraud risk. Additionally, electronic card meters offer real-time data collection, reduced maintenance needs, and the flexibility to handle various card types for diverse applications.

  • What types of cards can be used with electronic card meters?
Electronic card meters can use various types of cards, including prepaid cards loaded with credit, smart cards with embedded microchips, RFID cards for contactless communication, magnetic stripe cards, and contactless payment cards like those using NFC technology. They may also accept loyalty or membership cards and gift cards, depending on the meter's design and application.
