The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger can be used to count events, record events and log state changes.
It features an extended memory (compared to its sister product the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5 Event, Count and State Data Logger) with the capacity to store approximately 1 million readings. It is possible to record over 1 million events or state changes, or approximately 1 million timed intervals each with up to 65 000 counts per interval (when used in Count mode).
Event Mode
When recording events the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger will detect an input and save the date and time of each input occurrence. It is capable of recording up to 1 million of these occurrences (as indicated above) and has the capacity to log up to four events per second.
The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is able to detect events and state changes triggered by a rising edge voltage (a low voltage increasing to a high voltage) or a falling edge voltage (a high voltage decreasing to a low voltage). The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger can also detect events or state changes via volt free contacts. When using this method the data logger issues a voltage across the screw terminals and ascertains when the input closes; this mode of recording events and state changes is particularly useful for monitoring relays or microswitches.
State Changes Mode
In this mode, the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger can record both the ‘event’, the input occurrence, and when this occurrence ceases and the input returns to normal. It will record the date and times of these events. The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is able to record state changes at speeds of up to two per second.
As indicated above, the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger can store up to 1 million state changes and is capable of detecting events/ state changes triggered by rising edge voltages or falling edge voltages. It is also capable of detecting and recording state changes via the volt free contacts method (see above).
Count Mode
Via the Count mode the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger can record the number of events that occur within a time interval. As previously noted, it has the capacity to record approximately one million timed intervals, each with up to 65 000 counts. The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is capable of counting at speeds of up to 100 counts per second.
The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger will flash a red LED light when an event, state change or count has been recorded. At other times the flashing green LED light will indicate to the user that the instrument is logging data, preparing to log data (delayed start), or is logging data with a low battery.
The data recorded by the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is viewable via connecting the instrument to a PC and using the free EasyLog EL-WIN-USB Software (NOT included) to download the logged information. This software can also be used to graph and annotate data as well as export it into Excel, PDF or jpeg formats.
In addition to this, the EasyLog EL-WIN-USB Software can be used to configure the FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger. The user can assign the data logger a name, set it to start recording information immediately or with a delayed start, as well as select the desired logging mode: Event, State, Count or Count per Interval.
The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is not supplied with the EasyLog EL-WIN-USB Software, although it is available for free download via www.easylogusb.com; however, it is supplied with measurement leads with crocodile clip terminations and a lithium metal battery capable of supplying the data logger with up to one year of power.
The FilesThruTheAir EL-USB-5+ Event, Count and State Data Logger is a versatile data logger that can be tailored to detect and record a variety of data.
