The Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector is available as standard in the two options listed in the drop-down selection. The two standard models can each detect a total of five gases using a combination of the built-in gas specific, IR and PID sensors. The two standard instruments are:
- GPF-0303-EA-A: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Flammable Gases detected via IR sensor, Methane (CH4) detected via PID sensor – Non-Pumped
- GPP-0303-EA-A: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Flammable Gases detected via IR sensor, Methane (CH4) detected via PID sensor – Pumped
(** Flammable Gases include: carbon dioxide, methane, pentane and propane)
The Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector is completely customisable; the above options are the most common configurations, however other sensors are available, please see the Technical Specifications for further details. Should you require a configuration not listed above, please contact our sales team for more information or to place your order.
Further to this, the above models are set to English ATEX as standard, for different regions/ alarm levels please contact our sales team before purchase.

Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector Description
The Crowcon Gas pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector uses a combination of gas specific, IR and PID sensors to expand this product’s scope for use.
These gas detectors are available with or without an internal pump. The internal pump is activated by a flow plate and can be used to make pre-entry testing easier and allows the user to tailor this gas monitor to his/her needs, as it can be worn in either a pumped or diffused mode. For further information regarding fitting the flow plate and how to perform a pre-entry check please consult the videos below.
The internal pump helps to improve the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector’s ease-of-operation. Other features present on this gas detector which work to make it as easy-to-use as possible are its single button operation system and intrinsic functionality, which simultaneously ensures that this product can be used by workers of all experiences and that it remains easy-to-operate both in tight spaces and whilst wearing clothes.
The Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector’s top mount display ensures that gas level values can be read when the compact, lightweight and rugged detector is clipped to the user’s clothes. This gas monitor is resistant to water and dust ingress and has IP ratings of 65 and 67.
In addition to being suitable for use in a variety of challenging environments, the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector is also optimised to remain continually functional throughout the user’s shift and has a battery life of up to fourteen hours.
Protecting workers is the main purpose of this product and the Crowcon Gas Pro’s durability and longevity both work towards this end. In addition to this, the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID features new sensors which ensure that it remains sensitive to dangerous gases for longer.
Its IR sensor measures levels of CO2 and flammable gases including methane, propane and pentane. It works by measuring wavelengths which absorb gas and wavelengths which do not absorb gas, this prevents silicon poisoning ensuring that the sensor remains highly sensitive and responsive for longer than traditional pellistor sensors, making the IR sensor both safer and more cost-effective. Furthermore, the IR sensor does not require oxygen for it to remain fully functional and can be used in places where the oxygen concentration is less than 5% of the local atmosphere, such as in confined spaces and storage tanks purged with inert gas.
The Crowcon Gas Pro’s PID sensor also works to increase this detector’s sensitivity. Using UV light to detect the ionisation potential of gas molecules, the PID sensor can be used to detect the level of volatile organic compounds in the atmosphere. As volatile organic compounds are often found in solvents, paint thinners and glues, as well as the vapours from gasoline, diesel, heating oil, kerosene and jet fuel, workers are often exposed to harmful levels before most combustible gas indicators detect a registerable concentration. The PID sensor’s method of measuring gas levels provides a solution to this as it facilitates quicker detection of hazardous concentrations. For further information regarding how the PID sensor operates, please consult the video below.
The PID and IR sensors make this Crowcon Gas Pro Detector particularly well suited to use in the gas and oil industries, as well as the aviation, pharmaceutical and plastic production sectors. As these industries often involve a great deal of noise as well as dimly lit work areas the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector ensures that users can not overlook hazardous gas levels. If dangerous gas concentrations are measured the Crowcon Gas Pro will issue an audible 95db alarm, a visual alarm (red and blue LED lights around the instrument will be activated), and a vibrating alarm.
Further to this product’s comprehensive gas detection, rugged design and multitude of hazardous gas level alarms the Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Five Gas Detector is also intrinsically safe. It is compliant with the following approvals:
- IECEx: Ex d ia IIC T4 Gb Tamb -20°C to +55°C
- ATEX: II 2 G Ex d ia IIC T4 Gb Tamb -20°C to +55°C
- UL: Gas detector use in hazardous locations Class 1, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D only as to intrinsic safety
- INMETRO: Ex d ia IIC T4 Gb Tamb -20°C to +55°C
- Marine Equipment Directive: MED 1500009/M1
Therefore this durable, comprehensive and versatile product is ideal for protecting workers from dangerous gas concentrations.
