The Chauvin Arnoux CA6536 Specialist Megohmmeter is designed to function as both an insulation and continuity tester and digital multimeter. It is able to perform the following tests:
- Insulation: test voltage of 10 to 100V with a maximum measurement range of 20GΩ
- Continuity: 0 to 100Ω (20mA/ 200mA measurement current)
- Resistance: 0 to 1000kΩ
- Voltage: 0.3V to 700V DC
This instrument has been optimised for conducting specialist tests in avionics, space and defence sectors, as such it includes a variable test voltage ranging from 1 to 100V with 1V increments.
In addition to these measurement capabilities, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6536 Specialist Megohmmeter includes the following modes and functions, allowing the user to tailor the instrument to the application:
- Manual mode
- Lock mode - fixes the tester into performing an insulation measurement until 15 minutes have elapsed or the user presses the mode button for the second time. This mode facilitates hands-free operation.
- Timer mode – also allows the user to perform hands-free tests. The user can set the megohmmeter to conduct tests over a pre-programmed duration. The Chauvin Arnoux CA6536 Specialist Megohmmeter can be programmed to perform tests over durations of 1 to 39:59 minutes.
- Alarm function – set an upper and/or lower limit. These limits are indicated on the secondary display and if either one is breached the tester will issue an audible signal and will indicate the breach on its secondary display.
- Reference function – like the alarm function, when this option is engaged readings that differ from the selected reference value will be indicated on the secondary display. These values are displayed with the percentage of variance and the calculated difference between the reference value and the reading.
As indicated above, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6536 Specialist Megohmmeter features a backlit, dual, digital display. This display includes a logarithmic bar graph. The actual test voltage, the test current and the measurement value are all indicated on the secondary display.
Adding to this product’s practicality is its 600V CAT IV, IP54/ IK04 casing which ensures that it is suitable for use in rugged environments. Furthermore, its lightweight, compact design and operating system ensure that it is easy-to-use, even when wearing safety gloves.
Finally, in addition to the above safety and ingress protection standards, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6536 Specialist Megohmmeter is also compliant with the IEC 61557 standard for continuity tests (200mA) and insulation tests (up to 2GΩ). In addition to this, the continuity test is equipped with an active fuseless protection for when a voltage is present.
