Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter - Back Light Off

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter is ideal for conducting electrical measurements of telephone lines. It is able to perform the following tests:

  • Insulation: test voltage of 50 to 100V with a range (at a maximum test voltage) of 20GΩ
  • Continuity: 0 to 100Ω (20mA)
  • Resistance: 0 to 1000kΩ
  • Capacitance: 0.1nF to 10µF
  • Voltage: 0.3V to 700V DC
  • Frequency: 15.3Hz to 800Hz

As the linear capacitance has been programmed in nF/km, this instrument is also able to calculate cable lengths between 0 and 100 km. Furthermore, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter includes functions which facilitate its ability to measure resistance, capacitance and leakage current as well as AC voltage.

Furthermore, this instrument’s continuity test function (compliant with the IEC 61557standard) is equipped with an active fuseless protection for when a voltage is present. Its insulation measurement test is also compliant with the IEC 61557 standard up to 2GΩ.

In addition to these measurement capabilities, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmeter includes a number of modes and functions which allow the user to tailor the instrument to the application.  

In addition to manual mode, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmeter features:

  • Lock mode - locks the instrument into performing an insulation test until the user presses the function button again, or fifteen minutes have elapsed.
  • Timer mode – use to perform tests for pre-programmed lengths of time. Set test durations between 1 and 39:59 minutes.
  • PI function- calculate the polarisation index.
  • DAR function- calculate the dielectric absorption ratio.
  • Alarm function- this function is available when conducting resistance, insulation and continuity measurements. It allows the user to set an upper and lower limit for each measurement test. These limits are indicated on the display and if breached the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmeter will issue an audible signal and indicate the breach on the secondary display.
  • Reference function – when engaged the instrument will display measurements which differ from the reference measurement, as well as the value and percentage of the variation. This function is particularly well suited to measuring the differences in resistance between two wires.

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter features a double digital display with a logarithmic bar graph. The secondary display allows the user to view the actual test voltage, test current and timer value as well as the measured value. The double display is backlit, ensuring that the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter is suitable for use in dark environments.

Adding to this product’s practicality is its 600V CAT IV and IP54/ IK04 casing, making it suitable for use in a variety of rugged environments. It is lightweight and compact with a user-interface that is easy to operate even when wearing safety gloves. In addition to this, it is equipped with a magnetic stand enabling the user to fix the tester on a metal surface for hands-free operation.

The results acquired using this instrument may be stored in its internal memory. It is able to accommodate up to 1300 readings which may be communicated to compatible instruments via its Bluetooth connectivity. Alternatively, the user may utilise the supplied Megohmmeter Transfer (MEG) Software to transfer the measurements to his/her PC where they may be viewed according to measurement type. This software can also be utilised to activate tests remotely, allowing the user to view the results on a real-time graphical display.  

In addition to this, the Chauvin Arnoux CA6532 Telecommunications Megohmmeter is compatible with Chauvin Arnoux’s DataView® Software (NOT included), which allows the user to create customised measurement reports including the site location and operator details.
