The C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools are advanced cable and pipe detecting tools with depth measurement and a simultaneous dual-frequency (33kHz and 131kHz) output designed to energise and therefore detect a maximum number of buried services. Improved energisation and detection mean the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools are able to locate cables that are poorly earthed and/or have a smaller diameter.
Both of these models can log and store up to a year’s worth of data; the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools are available in two models:
Models with GPS compatibility are also able to log the locations the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tool has been used in; these can be viewed using Google Earth™ or Google Maps™. It is able to store up to twelve months of GPS data which can be communicated wirelessly, along with the cable location data, to a PC, tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth. Alternatively, data can be downloaded from both of these models to a PC via a USB cable.
Once data has been transferred to a PC, tablet or smartphone, it can be stored and analysed using the free-to-download C. Scope Toolkit PC Software or Relay Smartphone App. Data transferred from the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools may be organised into charts or graphs using the aforementioned software or app.
Bluetooth-enabled versions of the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools can also be paired with third-party GPS equipment allowing ‘one pass’ underground utility surveys to be conducted.
The C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools include optimised locator sensitivity and noise rejection allowing the weakest of signals to be detected even amongst loud background noise. The C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools feature four detection modes:
As mentioned above it also includes a Depth Measurement function; it will indicate the depth of buried pipes, cables and sondes. The Depth Measurement function can be engaged at the push of a button; the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools must be used alongside a C. Scope SGA4 or SGV4 Signal Generator in order to determine depth measurements.

The detection mode, signal peak level, depth and signal strength are all indicated on the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools’ large, clear, easy-to-read LCD protected by a polycarbonate lens. Via these displays, the user can also view the battery condition and Automatic Daily Self-Test results.
An Automatic Daily Self-Test (ADST) is conducted each day upon startup. It checks that the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools, including their receiving aerials, are functioning and working within their specified accuracies. ADST results are also saved to the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools’ internal memories and can be downloaded to a PC within the following twelve months.
Once downloaded to a PC, the C. Scope Toolkit Software can be used to produce a Product Verification Certificate using the ADST results. Using the C. Scope Toolkit Software the operator can also view and print a copy of the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tool’s original factory calibration certificate.
Finally, the C. Scope DXL4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tools feature a robust and durable twin-wall construction with a detachable speaker. They have an IP65 rating ensuring they are protected against dust and water ingress.
