The C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator is a signal transmitter designed to be used alongside C.Scope’s CXL4 and DXL4 Cable Avoidance Tools. It can be used to maximise the number of buried utilities that are energised and therefore detected, including street lighting cables.
In addition to issuing a dual-frequency signal output, the C.Scope Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator supports three signal application techniques (Direct Connection, Wraparound and Induction). It is also equipped with datalogging capabilities, an automatic daily self-test and a high-resolution backlit display.
Simultaneous Dual-Frequency Signal Output
The C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator will simultaneously issue a 33kHz and 131kHz signal output. This increases the number of buried pipes, cables and services that will be energised and subsequently detected.
To improve detection of cables with a smaller diameter or cables that are poorly earthed, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator’s dual-frequency output signal can be applied using the Induction method or via a signal clamp.
Signal Application Techniques
To enable maximum energisation and subsequent detection, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator supports the following three signal application techniques:
Direct Connection
The Direct Connection method is most effective when using the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator with a signal clamp, signal injectors or direct connection cables. The Direct Connection technique is ideal for identifying, tracing and measuring the depth of individual pipes and cables.
Wraparound
When it is difficult or inconvenient to use the Direct Connection method, the Wraparound technique can be used to energise street or car park lighting cables.
Induction
The C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator induces a signal to enable energisation and subsequent detection of previously unknown, undetected or inaccessible underground metal pipes or cables.
Pulsed or Continuous Signal Output
Signals can be applied continuously or as a pulse. When issuing a signal, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator sounds an audible output. The audible output can be switched off using the audio mute control.
The user can switch from Pulse mode to Continuous mode at the push of a button.
High Power Signal
The C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator features a fully adjustable one watt power output enabling deeper and less conductive pipes and cables to be energised and traced over long distances.
In addition to this, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator features a four-position power level adjustment allowing the user to control the power application.
Data Logging
A year’s worth of data can be recorded on the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator and its corresponding C.Scope CXL4 or DXL4 CAT. Saved data can be transferred to a PC via a USB.
Automatic Daily Self-Test (ADST)
Upon start-up, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator will perform a comprehensive Automatic Daily Self-Test. A positive result confirms that the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator is working to its specifications.
Test results are saved to the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator's onboard memory and can be downloaded to a PC within twelve months. Using C.Scope’s PC Toolkit, the user can create a Product Validation Certificate using these test results. The C.Scope PC Toolkit can also be used to view the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator’s original calibration certificate. As the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator performs an automatic daily self-test, it does not require periodic calibration.
High-Resolution Backlit Digital Display
The Automatic Daily Self-Test results are displayed on the C.Scope SGC4 Genny's large, easy-to-read backlit LCD. This display is mounted behind a protective polycarbonate lens.
In addition to showing the ADST result, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator will also indicate the selected function, the power level, the connection quality and the battery condition on its high-resolution display.
Ergonomic, Robust and Durable
The C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator features twin-wall construction ensuring that it is robust, durable and has an IP65 ingress protection rating.
Furthermore, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator features a detachable base that functions as a large accessory tray capable of holding an instruction manual and the standard accessories supplied with this unit (see ‘What’s Included?’) as well as OPTIONAL additional accessories such as signal clamps, sondes and signal injectors.
Finally, the C.Scope SGV4 Dual-Frequency Datalogging Signal Generator is Network Rail approved; it is a versatile, reliable and durable Genny optimised for use with C.Scope’s CXL4 and DXL4 CATs.
