Cat® is part of Caterpillar Inc and is the flagship brand in the Caterpillar portfolio. The corporate brand, Caterpillar, was founded in 1925 and serves many industry sectors such as construction, resources, and energy and transportation. The Cat brand produces a variety of products optimised for the construction, mining, power generation, marine, oil and gas, forestry, landscaping, agriculture, paving, waste and quarry industries. For instance, Cat has designed a range of rugged smartphones with FLIR thermal imaging technology and integrated tools, such as laser-assisted distance meters and environmental monitors, that are particularly useful for farmers, electricians and construction workers.
