The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has awarded the Calibration Laboratory at PASS Ltd, a ‘Schedule of Accreditation’ on a defined scope of electrical testers and measurement instruments. UKAS accreditation is granted to organisations who have demonstrated that they fully meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
PASS managing director asserts: “UKAS accredited laboratories ensure accurate and reliable measurement, and in the case of electrical instruments, PASS is now accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
“The accreditation is a testament to the hard work that has been put into gaining the UKAS accreditation in the laboratory over the last 12 months and is the highest standard that we can attain as a calibration laboratory.
“We will follow and maintain the comprehensive Quality System we now have in place in order to maintain our UKAS Accreditation and demonstrate constant improvement and for the whole company.”
A scope or schedule is the official and detailed statement of activities for which the calibration laboratory is granted accreditation. UKAS offers an extension to scope service for customers who wish to add to or change their range of accredited activities.
This process may cover a number of changes to an existing scope, including the addition of new conformity assessment activities such as test, inspection, calibration and areas of certification.
Accreditation identifies a proven, competent evaluator who can demonstrate that a laboratory has been successful at meeting the requirements of international accreditation standards ISO/IEC 17025.
The electrical instruments now within PASS’s UKAS scope of accreditation include AC and DC ammeters, bridges and similar resistance instruments, capacitance meters, charge amplifiers, frequency meters, insulation testers, loop testers, analogue and digital multimeters, portable appliance testers (PAT), power supply units, RCD testers, DC resistors and low frequency signal generators.
PASS’s dedicated website calibrate.co.uk details the range of services and instruments available. Calibration is available at the company’s calibration laboratory or on-site at customer premises.
Barry goes on to say: “The range of instruments that we calibrate isn’t just limited to electrical. We can calibrate almost all instruments from gas, pressure and temperature right through to cable detection equipment. We also pride ourselves on our three-day turnaround service as standard for most instruments.”
