The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is a very low frequency, high voltage tester designed for cable and cable sheath testing on electrical equipment (including generators, transformers and switchgear) and medium-voltage cables up to 35kV. Additionally, it can perform insulation tests and is capable of measuring partial discharge when used with BAUR’s PD-TaD 60 PD Diagnostics System (NOT included).
The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set has a maximum test voltage of 42.5 kVrms/ 60kVpeak and can provide DC, VLF rectangular wave and truesinus® voltage shapes. Very low frequency testing means the BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is able to locate faults in plastic- and paper-insulted, mass-impregnated cables quickly, easily and without affecting the quality of the surrounding material. The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can perform cable, cable sheath and voltage withstand tests in accordance with the following standards:
Truesinus® technology provides a load-independent, reproducible, sinusoidal high voltage enabling the BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set to perform reliable voltage tests and precise dissipation factor and partial discharge measurements. This ensures that results are repeatable and comparable.
0.1Hz truesinus® combined with dissipation diagnosis provides differentiated information pertaining to the ageing of paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables and PE/XLPE cables. The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can be used to ascertain whether PE/XLPE cables are new, slightly or severely ‘water-tree’ damaged.
Data gathered by the BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can be transferred to a PC via a USB interface; the included Diagnostics Reporter PC Software can be used to manage downloaded measurements.
Finally, the BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set includes an automatic discharge unit.
The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is a portable, powerful and precise testing and diagnosis tool optimised for checking the condition of electrical equipment and medium-voltage cables up to 35kV.
The BAUR Viola VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set has a sister product, the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set. The table below details the measurement/ test capabilities of these instruments when used independently and/or in conjunction with the BAUR PD-TaD 60 Diagnostics System.
