The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is a powerful, precise, portable cable diagnostics tool. It can be used to perform cable and cable sheath tests on electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers and switchgear, and medium-voltage cables up to 35kV. It is also capable of performing insulation tests and includes a Monitored Withstand Test.
Additionally, when used with the BAUR PD-TaD 60 PD Diagnostics System, the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can measure partial discharge and perform Full Monitored Withstand Tests with tan δ. Furthermore, when used with a VSE box, the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can detect leakage current.
Very low frequency testing enables the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set to find and diagnose faults in plastic- and paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables quickly, easily and without affecting the quality of the surrounding material.
The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set has a maximum test voltage of 42.5 kVrms/ 60kVpeak and supports voltage shapes including VLF truesinus®, VLF rectangular wave voltage and DC voltage. The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is able to perform tests in accordance with the following standards:
- Cable testing in compliance with DIN VDE 0276- 620/621 (CENELEC HD 620/621), IEEE 400-2012, IEEE 400.2-2013, IEC 60060-3
- Cable sheath testing according to IEC 60502/ IEC 60229
- Voltage withstand tests in compliance with IEEE 433
The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set’s truesinus® technology ensures that results are repeatable and comparable by providing a load-independent, reproducible sinusoidal high voltage, enabling reliable voltage tests and precise dissipation factor and partial discharge measurements.
Furthermore, using dissipation diagnosis with 0.1Hz truesinus®, the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can provide differentiated information pertaining to the ageing of paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables and PE/XLPE cables. The user is able to differentiate between new, slightly or severely ‘water-tree’ damaged PE/XLPE cables. The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can perform dissipation factor testing on electrical equipment and medium-voltage cables up to 35kV to an accuracy of 1x10-4.
The MWT can also be used to evaluate the condition of cable insulation; the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set includes a condition-based test duration feature that can be used to ensure the cable is only exposed to the increased test voltage for the required duration.
In addition to this, when the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is used in conjunction with the BAUR PD-TaD 60 Diagnosis System, it can perform a Full MWT. This combines VLF cable testing with parallel dissipation factor and partial discharge measurements to provide a comprehensive analysis of the cable’s insulation.
The BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set supports automated and individually programmed diagnostic sequences, including evaluation. Data can be transferred via a USB interface and managed using the Diagnostics Reporter PC Software.
Finally, the BAUR Viola TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set includes an automatic discharge unit.
