The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is a very low frequency tester designed for verifying the condition of medium-voltage cables and electrical equipment (up to 20kV) such as generators, transformers and switchgear. The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can also be used for cable sheath testing and can measure partial discharge when used with BAUR’s PD-TaD 62 Diagnostics System (NOT included).
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set will test cables according to DIN VDE 0276-620/621 (CENELEC HD 620/621), IEEE 400-2012, IEEE 400.2-2013, IEC 60060-3. It is capable of performing cable sheath tests in accordance with IEC 60502/ IEC 60229 and voltage withstand tests in accordance with IEEE 433.
Very low frequency testing allows the user to locate faults in plastic- and paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables. The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set can locate faults quickly and without affecting the quality of the surrounding material.
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set features truesinus® test technology which provides a load-independent, reproducible, sinusoidal and continuous high voltage. VLF truesinus® facilitates reliable voltage tests as well as accurate dissipation factor and partial discharge measurements; it ensures that results are repeatable and comparable.
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set’s dissipation factor diagnostics with 0.1Hz truesinus® provides differentiated information pertaining to the ageing of paper-insulated, mass-impregnated cables and PE/XLPE cables. This allows the user to prioritise cable replacement as, when used to verify the condition of PE/XLPE cables, the dissipation factor differentiates between new, slightly or severely ‘water-tree’-damaged cables.
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set has a maximum test voltage of 24 kVrms/ 34 kVpeak and can provide voltage shapes including VLF truesinus®, VLF square and DC voltage. The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set supports automatic testing and diagnostic sequences. It is quick and easy to setup.
Additionally, data can be transferred via a USB interface and managed using an Excel-based Diagnostic Reporter application.
Finally, this compact and lightweight cable fault locator features an automatic discharge unit.
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set is a precise, portable and powerful high-voltage testing and diagnostics instrument optimised for cable, cable sheath and electrical equipment testing.
The BAUR Frida VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set has a sister product, the BAUR Frida TD VLF Cable Diagnostics Test Set. The table below details the measurement/ test capabilities of these instruments when used independently and/or in conjunction with the BAUR PD-TaD 62 Diagnostics System.
