The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator is a state-of-the-art waveform generator with an external 7-digit 120MHz frequency counter, internal sweep generator with linear and log sweep, variable sweep rate, sweep output socket, and internal and external amplitude modulation.
Like its sister product, the Aim-TTI TG315, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator also includes an external sweep input, variable symmetry, variable DC offset, and basic generator functions such as Sine, Square and Triangle. It also features a dual digital display for viewing amplitude and frequency simultaneously.
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator can generate a variety of waveshapes over a 0.03Hz to 3MHz frequency range. Additionally, it can provide a wide range of controlled amplitudes from a low-impedance source, and maintains a constant amplitude as the frequency is changed.
Furthermore, voltage control of frequency enables a source of swept frequency to be generated. This means the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator can be used for frequency response testing.
Wide Range Level Control
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator includes the following outputs and components capable of generating a wide range of levels.
Main Output
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s main output provides a maximum emf of 20V peak-to-peak from a 50Ω or 600Ω source.
Amplitude Vernier
The Amplitude Vernier has a range of 20dB. When combined with two switched attenuators (-20dB and -40dB), it produces levels as low as 2mV peak-to-peak.
Variable DC Offset
A ±10V variable DC offset is accessible via the centre detent control.
Auxiliary Output
The auxiliary output provides a fixed level between 0V and +5V. These levels can be used to drive TTL and CMOS loads.
Exceptional Waveform Quality
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator can provide low sinewave distortion, low aberration triangle waves, and fast-edged square waves with low overshoot. It maintains good waveform quality throughout the frequency range and at low-level outputs.
Variable Symmetry for Pulse and Ramp Waveforms
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator offers bi-directional variable symmetry between 1:9 and 9:1. The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s frequency is independent of its symmetry setting.
Wide Sweep Range
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s ranges can be swept manually or via the external sweep input. They can be swept by at least 1000:1.
Advanced Internal Sweep
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator also includes a versatile internal sweep generator that provides linear and logarithmic frequency sweeps. It supports sweep ranges over 1000:1.
Via the digital display, the user can set precise start and stop frequencies. Furthermore, he/she can alter the sweep rate which is adjustable over a wide range with good set-ability between 20ms and 20s.
In addition to this, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator is equipped with a sweep output socket for the connection of an oscilloscope or X-Y recorder. The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s sweep ramp is triangular which provides superior display when using an oscilloscope to view swept frequencies.
Amplitude Modulation
For added versatility, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator supports internal (via a 400Hz internal generator) and external amplitude modulation (AM). Modulation levels are fully variable between 0% and 100%.
Dual Digital Display
The user can view frequency and amplitude readings simultaneously via the dual-section digital display.
Amplitude Display
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s output level display can be set to show any of the following parameters:
- Peak-to-peak amplitude
- RMS amplitude
- DC offset
Accurate RMS Values for Each Waveform Shape
To ensure the true amplitude is displayed regardless of the attenuator setting, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator will automatically change the decimal point and units.
Using a display indicator, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator will warn the operator of illegal offset and amplitude settings that would create clipping in the output stage.
Fast and Accurate Frequency Measurements
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator’s auto-ranging reciprocal measurement provides four-digit frequency readings with an accuracy of ±1ppm and a rapid update. The auto-ranging reciprocal measurement mode can be used to determine frequencies at levels as low as Hz.
However, when measuring sub-Hz frequencies, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator will alter the measurement mode to provide readings with a three-digit resolution. This maintains the rapid update rate, although the accuracy is reduced.
Despite this, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator is able to offer greater accuracy and quicker display across its entire frequency range compared to that of fixed gate-time meters.
External 7-Digit 120MHz Frequency Counter
When set to the External Counter mode, the Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator's entire display is utilised to provide readings with a seven-digit resolution.
The external frequency counter has a frequency range of 5Hz to 120MHz, an input sensitivity that is better than 50mV RMS, and an accuracy that is better than 10ppm (0.001%). Additionally, the user can select a measurement period of 0.5 or 5 seconds.
The external frequency counter also features an external adjustment point for closed-case calibration.
Suitable for Bench and Rack-Mounted Applications
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator is housed in a 2U-high, heavy-duty, ABS case with an integrated tilt stand. It can be mounted using an optional RM50 rack mount kit.
The Aim-TTi TG330 3MHz Function Generator is a versatile, accurate and cost-effective analogue waveform generator with sweep functions and an external 7-digit 120MHz frequency counter.
