The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator with Sweep and 120MHz Counter is an analogue generator designed to offer high accuracy, stability and spectral purity, as well as low phase noise and excellent frequency agility. To this end, it includes Sweep functions, an auto-ranging 120MHz frequency counter, and a DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) frequency generator which provides greater accuracy and stability, and a wider frequency range.
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator supports sine, square and triangle waveforms and is able to generate sine waves with high spectral purity and low distortion.
DDS Frequency Generator
Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) is a technique for generating waveforms digitally using a phase accumulator, look-up table and DAC. Generated waveforms have a stability and accuracy similar to that of a crystal master clock.
Wide Frequency and Amplitude Range
The DDS frequency generator can be used to create waveforms between 0.001Hz and 10MHz. The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator has a frequency stability of 1ppm and an absolute accuracy of <10ppm over a year.
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator also features a variable amplitude of 2mV to 20V peak-to-peak from a source impedance of 50W or 600W.
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator displays frequency and amplitude/ offset simultaneously. Frequencies can be displayed to a resolution of 6-digits/ 1mHz.
Numeric or Spin-Wheel Frequency Control
Frequencies can be entered in Hz, kHz or MHz via the numeric keypad; alternatively, digits can be incremented or decremented using the spin wheel.
Quasi-Analogue Frequency Control
Inclusion of a Manual Sweep mode with a corresponding dedicated analogue control means frequencies can be swept over a defined span. As a result, the Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator can match and exceed the capabilities of traditional analogue generators, as the span can be precisely controlled and extended to almost the full range of the generator.
This function is particularly useful when setting up frequency-dependent parameters, for instance, when checking filter characteristics.
Wide Range Sweep
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator supports linear, logarithmic, single or continuous sweeps that are fully phase continuous.
As mentioned above, waveforms can be swept over nearly the entire frequency range (0.1Hz to 10MHz) at a rate between 100 milliseconds and more than 15 minutes.
Modulation Modes
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator supports AM, FSX, and Frequency List modulation.
AM
Using an internal 400Hz source or external source (DC to 20kHz), the amplitude can be modified between 0 and 100%. All waveforms can be modulated.
FSX
The Frequency Shift Keying function can be used to perform phase coherent switching between two specified frequencies at a rate defined by the trigger source. The trigger source could be the front panel key or an internal timer (10kHz maximum).
Frequency List and Stepping
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator can store up to ten frequency settings in its non-volatile memory. The saved frequencies can be stepped through in sequence, which is particularly useful when conducting repetitive test routines.
Alternatively, this storage can be used to save random frequency values.
External 120MHz Frequency Counter
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator includes a 120MHz auto-ranging frequency meter. It has a range of 3Hz to 120MHz and an input sensitivity better than 50mV RMS. The reciprocal counting measurement system ensures that the Frequency Counter can provide a high resolution regardless of the input frequency. When the Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator is placed in External Counter mode, the full width of its display is dedicated to providing a seven-digit resolution.
Suitable for Bench or Rack Use
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator features a 2U high case with an integrated tilt stand for bench applications. It is also suitable for rack-mounted applications; an OPTIONAL rack mounting kit is available.
The Aim-TTi TG1006 Function Generator with Sweep and 120MHz Counter is a high-accuracy, high-stability analogue function generator with DDS technology, Sweep functions and an auto-ranging 120MHz frequency meter.
