The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply is a PSU with three independent channels, mixed-mode regulation, and total power of over 375 Watts.
For a brief introduction to Aim-TTi's MX-series of Multi-Output DC Power Supplies, please see the following video.
Mixed-Mode Regulation
To provide impressive power density, excellent line and load regulation, a good transient response, and low noise, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply combines high-frequency switch-mode pre-regulation with a linear post-regulation. As a result, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply is able to offer a performance close to that of an all-linear PSU.
Outputs
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes two high power outputs (180W) and one low power output (18W). The two high power outputs can be set to 30V/6A, 15V/10A and 60V/ 3A. Additionally, in Shared Power mode these two outputs are combined and the third lower output disabled to provide 360W (as either 15V/20A, 30V/12A, 60V/6A or 120V/3A) through a single channel. The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s lower power output is variable between 0 and 12V.
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply can be tailored to suit a variety of applications due to the multiple voltage/ current ranges available for each channel. Additionally, range switching facilitates variable voltage/ current combinations and can provide outputs of up to 120V and 20A. There are twenty-six range combinations available to ensure maximum flexibility. For further information regarding the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s possible output ranges, please see the following table.
Output 1 | Output 2 | Output 3 | |
Range 1 | 30V/6A | 30V/6A | 5.5V/3A |
Range 2 | 15V/10A | 15V/10A | 12V/1.5A |
Range 3 | 60V/3A | 60V/3A | - |
Range 4 | 30V/12A* | - | - |
Range 5 | 15V/20A* | - | - |
Range 6 | 60V/6A* | - | - |
Range 7 | 120V/3A* | - | - |

All the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs can support CI and CV operation, OVP/OCP trips, switchable remote sensing and simultaneous high-resolution metering. Each ouptut is also equipped with a dedicated output switch.
On/ Off Synchronism and Sequencing
Each of the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs features an individual On/Off switch. However, as some circuits can be damaged when only one voltage rail is present and/or if voltage rails are not provided in the correct sequence, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply also includes Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons.
As default the Multi-On and Multi-Off buttons will activate or deactivate all channels simultaneously. However, they may be programmed to activate/ deactivate any combination of the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs in a defined sequence with delays ranging from ten milliseconds to twenty seconds.
OVP and OCP Trips
Over-voltage and over-current trips, unlike limit settings, turn the output off and provide a different level of protection. Over-voltage and over-current trips are available for each output.
Setting Stores and Multi-Output Linked Memories
For fast and simple recall and implementation of voltage and current settings, including range, OVP and OCP, each output is equipped with a set of fifty setting stores.
Additionally, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes fifty setting stores for saving the parameters of the channels when the outputs are used together.
Voltage Tracking
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs are completely independent and isolated allowing them to support voltage tracking.
In Voltage Tracking mode, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply can be configured so that the voltage on one output tracks the voltage on another output. Due to output isolation, tracking can be used to set equal voltage of the same polarity or opposite polarities. Voltage tracking mode is of particular use when outputs have been wired in series or parallel as adjustments can be made by changing the voltage on the master output.
Individual Output Display
Each of the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s outputs includes a dedicated Display mode, allowing the user to view and alter the OVP, OCP, current meter averaging, and the range. The data for the selected channel is displayed in larger digits. Additionally, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s Display mode allows the user to view the fifty memory stores for the selected output.
Current Meter Averaging
Current meter averaging is particularly useful when measuring rapidly varying loads as it stabilises the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s display by showing the average of several readings in order to reduce the speed and degree of variation.
High Setting Resolution
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes both an illuminated keypad and a control knob for setting the required voltage and current parameters for any output quickly and easily. Up to five-digit setting and metering is provided for voltage and current and the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply has a high resolution of 1mV/ 1mA enabling parameters to be set accurately.
Ergonomic and Easy-to-Use
Additionally, the illuminated keypad provides access to the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s other features and functions via the menu system.
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply also displays information, such as the voltage and current, for all channels simultaneously via the large, graphic display. The user is able to focus on a particular channel using the aforementioned Display mode (as detailed above).
To protect against accidental adjustment, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply features an illuminated Lock key. Alternatively, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply’s keypad can be locked using a password chosen by the operator; this is particularly useful when incorporating the PSU into a fixed system.
Furthermore, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply is suitable for bench and rack-mounted applications. It is compact: housed in a half-rack width by 3U high case designed to take up minimum bench space and to enable mounting of up to two Aim-TTi MX180TP units in one rack space. A rack kit capable of housing one or two Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supplies is available as an OPTION, please call for details.
Further to this, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes an intelligent fan controller for monitoring ambient temperature and power loading; it also features front input ventilation ensuring that additional space is not required around the top or bottom of the unit. Additionally, it features output and remote sense terminals on both the rear and front of the unit which is particularly useful for rack-mount applications.
Remote Control Interfaces and LabView & IVI Driver
Additionally, the Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply includes support for USB, LAN (supports LXI), RS-232, and GPIB interfaces.
The Aim-TTi MX180TP Triple-Output DC Power Supply also includes a LabView and IVI driver for Windows that provides support for LabView®, LabWindows and Keysight VEE.
