The Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter is a low-resistance meter with a range of 1µΩ to 20kΩ. It can measure resistance to an accuracy of 0.1% and a resolution of 1µΩ. In addition to testing components, the Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter can be used to measure the resistance of motor and transformers windings, the properties of materials, the thickness of plates, and the security of pipework joints.
The Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter utilises Direct Current technique to measure true resistance. It features test currents for each range; these minimise heating of the sample-under-test as well as the effects of thermal emf and noise. As a result, the Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter provides greater accuracy at low resistances and reaches a stable reading quickly.
The Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter also supports four-terminal measurements using the supplied Kelvin clip leads. For speed and convenience, it includes front panel switches for current diversion and current reversal, as well as an indicator lamp that confirms the correct flow of the measuring current.
Moreover, via the Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter’s front panel the user can access the ‘Clamp’ switch which limits the maximum voltage across the unknown to 20mV enabling ‘dry circuit’ testing. The front panel also includes eight push-buttons for fast and easy selection of measurement ranges.
Finally, the Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter is powered by NiMH rechargeable batteries. It includes a built-in charger.
The Aim-TTi BS407 Micro Ohmmeter is a portable, versatile and accurate bench resistance meter.

Ranges and Accuracy | ||||
Note | Accuracies apply for a one year period over a temperature range of 18ºC to 28ºC after a warm-up period of 5 minutes with the instrument and test connections in thermal equilibrium. Tempco outside this range <±45ppm/ºC

Facilities | ||||
20mV Clamp | Operated by front panel switch. Limits the open-circuit voltage across the unknown to 20mV (+0mV, -4mV) for “dry circuit” testing of switch and relay contacts. Not available on the 2000Ω and 20kΩ ranges.
Reverse Polarity | Operated by front panel switch. Reverses the polarity of the test current, enabling thermal emf effects to be detected and quantified.
Set Zero | Rotary offset control. A front panel switch can be used to divert the test current way from the unknown, allowing zero adjustments to be undertaken with the test leads in place.
Measurement Source | ||||
Source EMF | 18 mV ± 2mV with 20mV Clamp Active < 6V with 20mV Clamp Inactive |
|||
Compliance | > 1V (> 0.5V on 1999µ range). Compliance is the maximum voltage that can be tolerated from additional resistance in series with the force connections
Protection | ||||
Note | The instrument is protected against the back-emf of its own test current from any inductance and against external short-term connection to voltage sources up to 50V. Protection against greater abuse is provided by non-flammable fusible resistors. |
|||
Power Source | ||||
Battery | Four internal Ni-MH cells (non removable). Operating time depends upon the test current flowing - >150 hours with no test current, > 8 hours with maximum test current (1999µ range). Low battery indication in display. |
|||
AC Line | Built-in battery charger allows instrument operation while re-charging. Nominal re-charge time 12 hours. |
|||
General | ||||
Display | 3.5 digit LCD with 12.5mm characters.
Casing | ABS casing with metal tilt stand giving approx. 15o angle
Power | 220 - 240V, 110 - 120V or 100V ±10%, 50/60Hz, adjustable internally; 20VA max. Installation Category II.
Operating Range | +5°C to + 40°C, 20% to 80% RH
Storage Range | -10°C to +50°C
Environmental | Indoor use at altitudes to 2000m, Pollution Degree 2
