The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter has a high accuracy and resolution: 0.02%, 1µV, 1mW, 100nA, 0.01Hz, 10pF.
Bus Interfaces
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter differs from its sister product, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter, in that it includes RS-232, GPIB and LAN (Ethernet) interfaces in addition to a USB interface.
The LAN interface is LXI compliant; this interface along with the RS-232 and GPIB interfaces require AC line power in order to function. The USB interface is powered by the controlling device which means the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can be powered by batteries without the USB interface causing additional power drain.
Rechargeable Batteries
To enable testing in remote locations without AC line power, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can be powered by rechargeable batteries for up to thirty-five hours. The batteries are charged by the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter’s internal power supply.
Dual Display and Dual Measurement
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter features dual-measurement functionality and is equipped with a dual 5 ½-digit display that can be configured to show any of the following measurement and parameter combinations:
- The measurement and selected range
- The measurement in two different units
- The result of the calculated function: value and % deviation
- Measurements for two separate parameters of a single signal
- Measurements for the same parameter for two different signals
Automatic and Manual Ranging
Fast-responding automatic ranging ensures that all measurement parameters are displayed to the best possible resolution. As mentioned above, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter’s display can be configured to show the measurement and the selected range; this provides greater clarity.
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter also supports manual ranging.
Wide True RMS AC Measurements
True-RMS AC measurement capabilities ensure that the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter is able to provide accurate AC current and voltage readings regardless of the waveform’s shape.
Furthermore, a wide bandwidth attenuator provides high accuracy within the audio band, as well as an extended response that prevents errors when measuring switching waveforms.
Additionally, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter includes an option for determining the TRMS value of AC plus DC components, as well as standard AC coupled measurements.
Frequency & Capacitance
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter includes five capacitance ranges up to 120µF.
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter is also able to provide high accuracy (better than 0.01%) frequency measurements between 10Hz and 120kHz. The utilisation of a reciprocal counting technique ensures that frequency updates are quick and provides a resolution of up to 0.01Hz.
Temperature Measurement
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter includes linearised measurement for PT100 and PT1000 platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) and supports 2-wire and 4-wire connections. Temperature measurements can be displayed in °C or °F.
Automatic Data Logging
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can store up to five-hundred measurements which can be recalled to the display or downloaded via a remote interface.
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can be programmed to log measurements at a rate ranging from one reading per second up to one reading per three hours. Alternatively, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can be configured to log measurements when triggered by an opto-isolated external trigger input or via a digital interface. It includes an external trigger connector on the rear panel to enable external triggering of the Measurement Hold or Measurement Log function. An opto-isolated open collector output is also available for synchronisation with the measurement update.
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter also includes an option for manual data logging.
Smart Functions
In addition to the aforementioned measurement and data logging capabilities, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter includes the following smart/ maths functions.
Linear Scaling with Offset
This function is particularly useful when testing 4-20mA current loops. It scales the electrical output of a transducer to provide a direct readout of a physical parameter such as temperature or weight. The Linear Scaling with Offset function multiplies the reading by a scale factor (A) and either adds or subtracts an offset (B).
dB Measurement
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can display AC voltages in dB as well as volts.
Furthermore, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter’s integrated zero reference scaling means that AC voltages can be displayed in dBm relative to an impedance value between 50W and 8kW. The voltage is displayed simultaneously on the secondary display.
Limits Comparison
The reading is compared to the user-programmed upper and lower limits and a HI, LO or PASS result is indicated alongside the measurement.
Percentage Deviation (%)
The reading is compared to a user-set nominal value and the percentage by which it deviates from this value is displayed. The Percentage Deviation function can be used to measure tolerance and stability.
Min-Max Storage
The Min-Max Storage function records the highest and lowest values measured over the testing period. This function can be used to record peak temperatures and check for power supply glitches.
Power Measurement in Watts or VA
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter can measure power in dBs, Watts or VA.
The VA function displays the product of voltage and current by utilising the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter’s dual measurement capability.
The Watts function calculates V2/R for load resistances between 1W and 10kW. It is particularly useful for audio measurements.
Graphical Interface for PC
The Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter is supplied with Aim-TTi’s 1908-PC Link Software. This Windows-based software can be used to operate the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter remotely via a PC.
The graphical interface displayed on the user’s PC is similar to the menu system on the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter; this allows the user to set measurement ranges, select measurement functions for the main and secondary displays, and log data quickly and easily. The Aim-TTi 1908-PC Link Software can also be used to download data saved to the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter’s memory.
Data can be viewed in a table or in an analogue bar graph with minimum and maximum reading markers. It can also be exported to a CSV file.
IVI Driver
Additionally, the Aim-TTi 1908P 5.5-Digit Dual Measurement Digital Multimeter includes an IVI driver for Windows that provides support for LabView, LabWindows and Keysight VEE.
