The three standard models vary in regards to their keyed options (keyed alike or keyed different), their size, and shackle proportions, please see the table below for further details.

These padlocks do not vary in regards to their CEN (Central European Norm) security grading, however ABUS’ security grading (GPS: Global Protection System) does vary, indicating that different padlocks are suited to different applications:

• 65MB/15 and variants – offer a solution to low-level security problems. Ideal for securing low-value items and/or items at low risk of theft such as bags, suitcases, jewellery, and/or cash boxes
• 65MB/30 and variants – offer a solution to medium-level security problems. Suitable for securing items of a medium value and/ or under a medium threat of theft. Ideal for locking chains, doors, gates, cupboards, lockers, toolboxes, cellar windows, sheds, and switchboards.

All the ABUS 65MB Padlocks feature a brass body and a weatherproof brass shackle, further extending their scope for use as brass’ anti-spark properties mean that these padlocks can be used in applications that bring them within proximity of petroleum.

However, despite their weatherproofing and non-corrosive inner components, these padlocks are not suitable for applications involving an excessive amount of grit, sediment, or salt water. Plastic-coated padlocks, such as ABUS’ vinyl-coated T65AL padlocks (available here), are more suited to these tasks.

Nevertheless, these padlocks provide an excellent level of security for medium to low-level tasks. This is due to their paracentric keyways which resist manipulation, precision pin tumbler cylinders, and self-locking shackles which lock on both sides. Therefore the ABUS 65 Brass Padlocks with Brass Shackles are ideal for almost any medium to low-level security application.
